Bistecca Fiorentina
Florence's most iconic dish β a massive T-bone steak cooked rare over charcoal. Try it at Buca Mario or Trattoria Sostanza. One shared between two people is plenty.
All'Antico Vinaio
Arguably Italy's most famous sandwich shop. The "favolosa" schiacciata stuffed with finocchiona, pecorino, and truffle cream is a meal in itself. Expect a queue.
Gelateria dei Neri
A local favorite just steps from the Uffizi. Skip the tourist traps and come here instead β the ricotta and fig and the dark chocolate are exceptional.
Trattoria Mario
A legendary no-frills lunch spot near the San Lorenzo market β shared tables, daily specials written on a chalkboard, and very local energy. Cash only. Opens at noon.
Lampredotto Cart
Florence's iconic street food β slow-cooked tripe in a bun with salsa verde, served from food carts near the market. An adventurous local experience worth trying.
Enoteca Buca Mario
A beautiful old wine cellar perfect for an evening aperitivo or a full dinner. Excellent selection of Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino β Tuscany in a glass.
